Globe-trot: Seychelles

“Vitamin-Sea” is the first thing that pops into our mind when we need a break from our hectic schedules and busy lives. Uncluttered Beaches are undoubtedly the best escape one can have to relax and unwind.

Luxurious White sandy beaches wrapped between the high embracing green mountains and the inviting turquoise blue sea covered by huge vintage granite rocks- Seychelles is a gem in the western Indian Ocean.

Seychelles is a group of 115 islands & also a sanctuary in East Africa, for the modern traveller, with a choice of world-beating beaches & world class accommodation, making it the ideal place for a romantic getaway.

Mahe, Seychelles’ main island, is home to the capital, Victoria. Victoria has the local Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clarke market & souvenir shops. it also has a Hindu temple named Arul Mihu Navasakthi Vinayagar.

Best Time To Visit: We visited in March which was extremely hot & humid. The best time is April, may, October & November.

Expenses: We spent approximately 2 Lakh INR for 5 nights including renting a car, food, a 4-star hotel, a 5-star hotel, excursions, excluding the airfare.

Hilton Northolme Seychelles

Food: Since we are Indians, we love the spice in our food, which is missing in Seychelles. Seafood is super fresh but bland for our tastes. We found only one Indian restaurant which is located in beau vallon named Mahek which helped us survive.

A very important thing to note is that there are no fast-food chains. No KFCs, Mc. Donalds, etc. There is a local fast food chain. I did try it once, but as I mentioned earlier, our Indian food palette craves spices.

Avani Resort & Spa, Seychelles

Currency: Seychelles Rupee & Euro

Activities: Island Hopping, excursions, diving, fishing, sailing & cruise, spa & wellness, golf & trekking, Botanical Gardens.

Seychelles is one of the only 25 Biodiversity hotspots in the world. You can also Visit the botanical gardens which I highly recommend. The botanical gardens are full of streams and birdsong. Star attractions are the Coco de Mer palms lining the main alley. There’s also a spice Grove, a pen of Aldabra tortoises, a patch of rainforest complete with fruit bats and a lot more.

Do not accept any snorkelling or excursion trips from the locals. We were cheated by a guy who called us for snorkelling after taking the full payment. When we reached for the excursion, there was nobody to guide us, they wanted us to pay additional for the equipment and other additional charges. We denied to go further and asked for our money back, which did not happen because they have their gangs.

The best place to go for excursions is the Marine Charter Yacht Club in the city. I and my husband went island hopping and snorkelling at two different places and the experience was one of a kind. the colourful fishes and numerous beautiful kinds of coral reefs on the surface of the sea took my breath away. They take you to the Marine Park in glass-bottom boats in organised groups, providing for your food and water requirement for the full day excursion along with the equipment. It’s hassle free and safe without any additional costs. Plus, the waters are crystal clear and you can feel the ecstatic marine life up close and personal under guided supervision. It’s an Experience like no other!

You can also visit the Eden islands which is an artificial island. There is a small shopping mall on this island.

Top Beaches: Beau Vallon, Anse Royale, Grand Anse, Intendance, Anse Soleil, Takamaka.

Nevertheless, all beaches are stunning.

Transportation: We rented a car from the airport for our one week stay which was the most convenient & affordable option. Also, you can stop by for your favourite views & adventures when you have your own transport. The cars are Right-hand driven.

If you wish to go further to Praslin, you will have to take a domestic flight or Charter Helicopter from Seychelles. Furthermore, you can take a boat to La-Digue from Praslin.

On the whole, as compared to other famous beach destinations like the far east, Seychelles is a predominant location with uncluttered beaches and a more serene and exquisite ambience.

I spent my romantic getaway in these beautiful hotels:

  1. Avani Seychelles Barbarons Resort & Spa
  2. Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa

All experiences are distinct and special. Do let me know about your experiences if you have visited this beautiful destination or anything else you would like to say about this place.

See you’ll on my next staple!! Happy Sun-bathing 😀 !!!

Meanwhile, try this ” She sells sea shells on the sea shore”
